Jet's Pizza Invite Shows Promise Ahead For Wildcat Women

SAGINAW, Mich. — The Wildcat women's indoor track team completed the Jet's Pizza Invite at Saginaw Valley State with 15 top-10 finishes, including eight top-five places. 

  FULL SPEED AHEAD
  • After finishing sixth through the prelims with a 60m hurdle time of 9.26, Nina Augsten posted the fourth fastest time in the final heat, shaving four one-hundredths of a second off her first time for the 9.22 finals time.

  • Breaking one minute by one-one hundredth of a second, Sydney McPeters' 59.99 time in the 400m dash placed sixth overall.

  • In the 60m dash, Isabelle Peterson crossed the line in 7.87 seconds and fifth overall.

  • During the 200m dash preliminary event, Peterson posted the second fastest time, automatically qualifying for the later race. 

  • The women's 4x400m relay squad of Sydney McPeters, Megan Martin, Paige Du Bois and Hannah Jones claimed bronze when they crossed In 4:01.94.

  IN THE FIELD
  • In the pentathlon, Nina Augsten finished fourth overall, amassing 3,091 points over the course of the day. Her pentathlon teammate and fellow competitor, Maddie Campbell totaled 2,744 points for 10th overall.

  • The long jump saw Jordan Butler claim eighth overall, improving her seeded jump from 4.97m to 5.08m on her second attempt. Butler also claimed second in the triple jump with a 10.95m season-best jump.

  • Dunja Drobac finished sixth in the meet with a long jump distance of 10.41m while Brittany Ingalls placed tenth with a jump of 9.50m.

  UP NEXT

The team will rest next weekend before getting back to action on February 8 at the Pointer Invite on the campus of Wisconsin-Steven's Point. 

On their off weekend, the team will host its annual Dome Dash 5K, set to begin at 2:30 p.m. next Sunday.
