Indoor Track & Field Finishes Out Regular Season Strong At GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Wildcat indoor track and field team finished off their regular season schedule with great success at the GVSU Big Meet over the weekend. The field, a mix of teams from both the Division I and Division II levels, proved tough competition for the NMU team as they prepare for the upcoming Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championships in two weeks. Against conference and like teams, the Wildcats showed they can compete against the top level of competition over the course of the two day meet.

  • In the 200m dash, Maria De Mingo Domenech crossed the line in 26.11 seconds for 19th overall.

  • A standout in the middle distance, Paige Du Bois took 22nd overall in the 400m dash, breaking the one minute mark with her finals time of 59.29 seconds.

  • In the open 3k race, Hanna Torvi rounded out the top-25 when she finished in 10:35.17 and 25th overall.

  • Sophomore Maddie Campbell tied for 13th place when she leapt 1.54m in the air during the high jump competition in Allendale, Michigan.

  • In the pole vault, Calli Rechsteiner finished in a tie for 14th place with a height of 3.21m. Mari McClure also competed, finishing 23rd with a vault of 2.91m.

  • Two women placed in the top-20 of the long jump event for the Wildcats, led by rookie Jordan Butler with a 5.27m finish. Ninti Little took 20th overall with a final distance of 5.19m.

  • In the women's open triple jump, Jordan Butler came in seventh overall with a distance of 10.97m. Her teammates Dunja Drobac (10.63m) and Brittan Ingalls (9.99m) took 13th and 19th, respectively.

  • On the inner field, Ashtyn Buss threw for 14.59m in the weight throw portion and finished 25th overall.


The women will have a weeek off before heading back to Allendale, Michigan for the conference championships at the end of the month. 

The GLIAC meet kicks off on Saturday, February 29th before continuing on Sunday, March 1st.
