The Wildcats hit the road last weekend to conclude the regular season and split their two matches. On Friday, NMU visited Saginaw Valley State University but fell to the Cardinals 3-0. The team then went to Lake Superior State University Saturday and collected their sixth sweep of the year by defeating the Lakers 3-0.

The Wildcats have two ranked in the top five for hitting in the GLIAC. Sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) is fourth in the league with 3.58 kills per set. She is also ranked fourth with 369 kills on the season.

Freshman Abigail Durecki (South Lyon, Mich.) is fourth in hitting percentage as she gets a kill on .313 percent of her attempts, committing just 75 errors on 600 attempts. She has committed the second fewest errors among all players who have at least 600 attempts this season.

Also hitting well this season has been sophomore Hailey Wickstrom (Calumet, Mich.). She is close behind Wickstrom with the third fewest errors on more than 600 attempts, 75, and is hitting at a .247 clip.

Senior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis.) is fourth with .91 blocks per set and now has 95 blocks on the season which is the third most in the conference. Her 95 blocks this season gives her a total of 349 blocks in her career and she is just five blocks away from sixth place all-time in school history. Here 1.10 blocks per set places her seventh all-time.

In the back row, sophomore Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) paces the team with 361 digs. Sophomore Lauren Caprini (St. Charles, Mich.) has added 302 digs this season.

NMU has featured a freshman setter this season. Lauren Van Remortel (Carmel, Ind.) has posted 993 assists this season, averaging 9.74 assists per set. She has added 68 kills to the team's effort and 16 aces.

NMU finished the GLIAC season at 8-8 and tied with Grand Valley State University for the sixth seed, and earned the sixth seed due to winning the tiebreaker over the Lakers with a 3-2 victory at GVSU earlier this season.

The Wildcats are 19-13 all-time against Ashland but fell to the Eagles 3-2 in a tight match earlier this season in Vandament Arena. Ashland enters the tournament at 24-6 on the season and posted a 13-3 GLIAC record.
